Poker After Dark Is All Set To Hit NBC With A New Season Of Fun And Excitement!

NBC is all set to start the 5th season of its hit show Poker After Dark. As the name suggests, the show comes on air at 2 am (late night, after dark). With this show NBC joins the bandwagon of the poker craze.
The show is filmed in Las Vegas, presenting the viewers an exclusive and exciting glimpse of the Las Vegas poker scene. Thirteen action-packed and exciting episodes were shot with Leeann Tweeden playing the host this season. With six professional poker players competing for the first prize of $120, 000, the show surely promises some great excitement and entertainment in the middle of the night!
Each week will see the competitors shuffle up and deal until someone gets the last winning pot. In the process viewers will also get a chance to witness the poker strategies that these professional will use to outwit and outplay their competitors.


The new season of Poker After Dark presents an interesting combination of cash games and tournaments. While cash games will be held for seven weeks, there will single table no limit winner-take-all tournaments for the other six weeks. This season, the show will welcome fourteen debutants which include reputed online figures such as Cole South, Taylor Caby, David Benefield, and Ilari Sahamies. Other celebrities populating this list will be Jason Alexander, Orel Hershiser, and Don Cheadle. Kenny Tran, Bob Safai, John Phan, Dario Minieri, and Max Pescatori are among the other new entries. Last but not the least the show will also have Ivan Demidov who was the runner up in the WSOP Main Event in 2008.
The six episodes of winner-take-all tournaments are named as The Magnificent Six. Some of the most reputed faces in the game of poker will be seen in these six episodes which are Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Runson, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, and Daniel Negreanu. The name and the pride of two nations will be at stake when Lederer, Ferguson, and Eric Lindgren will represent the USA against Dario Minieri, Max Pescatori, and Marco Traniello of Italy.
As for the cash games, they will be all no limit hold'em poker games. The blinds will be worth around $200 to $400. The minimum and maximum amounts for 'buy-ins' will be around $100,000 to $250,000.
In addition to the 13 exciting episodes the new season will also air the three episodes which were a part of the Season 4 but were not aired. Thus, the new season will have 16 new episodes in total. While the host of the show remains unchanged, Ali Nejad will be seen to offer commentary.
